Members of the College of Cardinals celebrated Pope Benedict's 60th anniversary of his priestly ordination by making a personal donation to pay for a special lunch for hundreds of poor people living in Rome.

Four large buses brought 220 disadvantaged people to the gardens behind the Basilica of St. John Lateran June 29 for a full-course meal that included a large cake decorated with the pope's coat of arms.

The cake was then cut and served by Cardinal Angelo Sodano, the dean of the College of Cardinals.

Sodano told the pope that because of his great concern for the people of his Rome Diocese, the college members decided the best present would be a donation to feed the city's poor.
