A group led by a Presbyterian church plans to build a low-emissions housing project on the grounds of the Westmount Presbyterian Church in the North Glenora neighbourhood.

The project, to be built in partnership with Edmonton Inner City Housing and the Mennonite Centre for Newcomers, will have a church with a daycare centre and 16 new townhomes for large newcomer families.

"This is an extraordinary gift that the (Presbyterian) Church is giving the community in order to build new, sustainable and affordable housing," said Cam MacDonald of Inner City Housing Society.
