After reading Janet MacLellan's letter to the editor, "Reader wants crucifix to state Christ's kingship" (WCR, Dec. 1), I would like to applaud her and make the following comments.

At the time of Jesus Christ's ministry on earth, it was a fact that criminals were crucified just as Christ was crucified, one of them being the good thief.

Without the inscription INRI on a given crucifix, the corpus is not designated as Christ, but rather could mistakenly represent any deceased criminal who succumbed to crucifixion.

Therefore, it is pivotal that a crucifix representing Christ our great high priest on the cross be inscribed with the INRI.

I will go further to say that a crucifix without the inscription INRI is inferior to one with it.
