EDMONTON – Mary Molloy is this year's recipient of the 2013 Kevin Carr Christian Leadership Award.

Molloy's contributions have been many – including those in her own parish, Catholic Women's League, and in the community in general.

A member of St. Joseph's Basilica Parish, she served on the Liturgy Committee helping organize liturgical events, including the annual Chrism Mass, 75th Anniversary Masses for both the province and archdiocese, Pope John Paul II's visit in 1984, and the basilica's 100th anniversary committee.

She also chaired the Sign of Hope Committee in 2001, co-chaired the Cornerstone of Faith Campaign in 2008-09 and served on the Board of Governors for St. Joseph's College at the University of Alberta.

The Catholic Women's League is a great part of Molloy's life. She recently served as president of the St. Joseph's Basilica CWL, resolutions chair for the Alberta Mackenzie Provincial CWL, and on the organizing committees for the Alberta Mackenzie Centennial Gala and the CWL National Convention.

FOLLOWED EXAMPLE

Molloy says she was surprised to be given the award.

"I thought things that I have done were just part of everyday life. We were raised that way, given the example of our parents. It (the award) has been affirming, given me a sense of pride and purpose, made me more confident to continue pursuing what I do."

Molloy will receive her award at the 10th annual Kevin Carr Leadership Award Luncheon Oct.15 at the Edmonton Petroleum Club.
