Curator unearths icons and creates amazing display
WCR STAFF
MUNDARE - Karen Lemiski came back to Alberta after eight years working in Arizona to get back to her roots. But when she came to her new job last year as curator of the Basilian Fathers Museum, she found more than her roots. She also found dozens of Marian icons and paintings tucked away in storage rooms at the museum. The result was the impressive Images of Mary exhibit now on display at the museum. The exhibit opened in late April and due to an amazing response, Lemiski said it will remain open throughout the summer. Loaded with academic credentials, including a doctorate in Russian and Soviet history, Lemiski worked at Arizona State University teaching European history and overseeing the production of a series of history textbooks. She started working at the Basilian Fathers Museum a year ago following the death in a car crash of the long-time curator, Dagmar Rais. For a full report on the Images of Mary exhibit, Click Here. |
