Students at St. Kevin's Junior High and St. Gabriel Elementary provided vibrant Easter colours for St. Michael-Resurrection Church and help for the inner-city poor.
Students and members of the parish's art and environment committee prepared blossoms for the church's Easter trees.
The blossoms represent money donated by the students for Hope Mission and the Mustard Seed Church in the inner city.
Students from the two schools raised more than $600. Then, parishioners were challenged to match what the students had raised.
They rose to the occasion and now more than $1,200 will be given to the two charities this month. Each donor also placed a blossom on the parish's Easter tree set up in the church foyer.
"Only God can make a tree, . . . but we're second best," said pastor Father Roger Keeler.
