When it comes to quilting Jeannette Goulet, 85, has no equal. The dynamic mother of five has made 1,005 quilts for the poor since she took up quilting as a pastime in mid-2003 following her husband's death. All her quilts go to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which distributes them to the needy. Goulet had 457 quilts in February 2006 when she was first interviewed by the WCR. She has made 548 more since then but "people don't believe me," she laughs. "Even my doctor didn't believe me."
Goulet is happy she took up a hobby that gives warmth to the needy. "You can have all kinds of hobbies to serve yourself but I'd rather have a hobby that helps other people," she says. "I get more than I give because I'm helping somebody."
