Catholics asked to support CCCB
By Canadian Catholic News Ottawa
Canadian Catholics will soon see inserts in their parish bulletins advising them of the annual Collection for the Needs of the Church Sept. 30 to fund the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB).
Archbishop Andre Gaumond, who finishes his term as president in October, writes about how much more he now appreciates the CCCB's national and international role.
The CCCB has intervened before parliamentary legislative committees and in the media on a range of issues from social justice, to the environment, to the dignity of human life.
It has also maintained ecumenical dialogues and relationships with other faith groups, including common projects.
The CCCB also co-sponsors groups such as the Catholic Organization for Life and Family to support families and life issues and promotes involvement in World Youth Days.
