Champagne temp head of Halifax, Yarmouth
Pope Benedict has appointed Auxiliary Bishop Claude Champagne as the apostolic administrator of Halifax Archdiocese and the Yarmouth Diocese. For the past four years, Champagne, a 60-year-old Oblate, has served, as auxiliary bishop for both dioceses under Archbishop Terrence Prendergast, who was installed as Ottawa archbishop June 26. Champagne will have all the faculties of a residential bishop until new appointments are made for the dioceses.
