Calgary Catholic School District wins workers' safety award
Special to the WCR
The Calgary Catholic School District was honoured for its efforts to improve employee safety at this year's Alberta Business Awards of Distinction presentation on Feb. 21.
Calgary Catholic was awarded with the Workers Compensation Board Alberta Safety Turnaround Award of Distinction for its efforts in developing and implementing a district-wide occupational health and safety program.
"We are extremely proud of our accomplishments as being the first school district to develop a comprehensive occupational health and safety program and attain our certificate of recognition," says Craig Foley, superintendent of human resources.
Committed to safety
Foley said the district is committed to the safety and well being of its employees, students, visitors and contract workers and is honoured to be recognized for achieving excellence in its business practices.
The Alberta Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual awards program to recognize and celebrate excellence across the business spectrum.
The Calgary Catholic School District is the largest Catholic school district in Alberta, serving 44,000 students in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere and the Municipal District of Rocky View.
