Pancakes fund Guatemala trip

Brittney White and Debbie Poulin put the strawberries and whipped cream on the pancakes of 12-year-old Emily Mitchell, one of 350 people who attended a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper at St. Albert Church basement hall Feb. 20. Ecole Father Jean School organized the event with help from the parish and the Knights of Columbus to raise funds to send seven young adults from St. Albert Parish to an Oblate mission in the Quiche region of Guatemala. The group needs $10,000 to go to Guatemala in August to build churches and work with children and families. Shrove Tuesday organizer Tammy Breault, a member of Ecole Father Jean School's Parent Council, said she hoped to raise at least $2,000 through the two-hour event.
