Edmonton Archdiocese announces priests' appointments
Following are the recent appointments of priests in the Edmonton Archdiocese made by Archbishop Thomas Collins:
Effective Sept. 1
Salesian Father Joseph Cheng is appointed pastor of Mary Help of Christians Parish, Edmonton.
Effective Sept. 5
Salvatorian Father Krzysztof Sobanski, originally from Poland, is appointed associate pastor of St. Joseph's Basilica.
Effective Sept. 22
Father Wilson Eerothara from India is appointed associate pastor of St. Theresa Parish, Edmonton.
Effective Oct. 2
Father Andrew Bogdanowicz currently pastor in Drayton Valley and attached parishes of Tomahawk and Wildwood, and Mayerthorpe, and attached parish of Evansburg, becomes pastor of Annunciation Parish, Edmonton.
Pallotine Father Patrick Furtado, associate pastor in Fort Saskatchewan and attached parishes of Gibbons, Redwater, Skaro and St. Michael, is given a new assignment by his community in Calgary.
Salvatorian Father Kazimierz Kubat, a priest from Poland, is appointed associate pastor of St. Thomas More Parish, Edmonton.
Pallotine Father Francis Mariappa, from India, is appointed associate pastor of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, Fort Saskatchewan and attached parishes of Gibbons, Redwater, Skaro and St. Michael.
Father Devadas Narisetty, currently associate pastor of Holy Family Parish, St. Albert, becomes pastor of St. Agnes Parish, Mayerthorpe, and St. Elizabeth Parish, Evansburg.
Father Christian Nwaigwe, current associate pastor in Drayton Valley and Mayerthorpe, becomes pastor in Drayton Valley and attached parishes of Tomahawk and Wildwood.
Father Collins Okafor, current associate pastor of St. Thomas More Parish, is assigned to St. Benedict Chapel, downtown Edmonton with residence at St. Joseph's Basilica.
Father Bobby Parreno, from the Philippines, is appointed associate pastor of St. Anthony Parish and St. Agnes Parish in Edmonton.
Holy Cross Father Mike Toner, current pastor of Annunciation Parish, retires from full time parish ministry in Welland, Ont.
Effective Dec. 1
Salesian Father Luciano Cortopassi, current pastor of Santa Maria Goretti Parish in Edmonton, is given a new assignment by his religious community.
Father Oscar Monroy, current pastor in Villeneuve, and attached parishes of Riviere-Qui-Barre, Mearns and Calahoo, is appointed pastor of Santa Maria Goretti Parish, Edmonton.
Father George Nellissery, current administrator of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Innisfail, is named pastor of that parish.
Father Wellington Santana, a priest from the Diocese of Paracatu, Brazil, is appointed pastor in Villeneuve, and attached parishes in Riviere-Qui-Barre, Mearns, and Calahoo.
