World Day of Prayer on March 3

This year's World Day of Prayer will be held at churches around the world on Friday, March 3.

This year's service, written by the women of South Africa, reflects on the theme Signs of the Times.

The World Day of Prayer has its roots in an ecumenical day of prayer organized by women in Canada and the United States in 1920. In Canada, the World Day of Prayer is coordinated by the Women's Inter-Church Council and, in Edmonton, by the council's local branch.

Christians in 2,000 communities across Canada and 170 countries around the world will gather March 3 for prayer in solidarity with the women of South Africa.

Services will be held at the following churches in the Edmonton area:
