Christmas across the nations
By WCR Staff Red Deer
Grade 11 art students have brightened up Red Deer's Notre Dame High School this month with their paintings of Christmas in seven regions of the world.
The paintings, created on three-by-six-feet canvas sheets attached to plywood, were created for the school's Dec. 1 Advent celebration.
Since then, the seven banners have been hanging in the school cafeteria as a reminder of the diverse ways of celebrating Christmas around the world.
Art teacher Donna Matolsci said that during the Dec. 1 celebration, two students gave an oral presentation on Christmas customs in each part of the world as the banners were brought forth.
The banner representing Christmas in Australia by student Danielle Regier is highlighted on the front page of this week's WCR.
