Forest awarded Kevin Carr award

Jean Forest, former senator and chancellor emeritus of the University of Alberta, will be the first recipient of the Kevin Carr Christian Leadership Award.
Forest was nominated for the award for her dedication and leadership in promoting post-secondary education, Catholic education, human rights and community building.
She worked with the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, served as vice-chair of the board of governors of Newman Theological College and president of the Alberta Catholic School Trustees Association.
Forest has received honourary doctorates, medals and other awards recognizing her achievements. She was a member of the Canadian Senate from 1996 to 1998.
The Kevin Carr Leadership Award has been established by Newman College to honour an individual whose outstanding Christian leadership reflects the values of the college and the qualities that Kevin Carr cherished and exhibited in his work as college president.
The award will be given at a luncheon on Sept. 29.
