Husbands reflect on the important things in their lives
By WCR Staff Jasper
While their wives were attending the 82nd annual Edmonton diocesan council Catholic Women's League convention at the Jasper Park Lodge, 30 men attended a talk by Archbishop Thomas Collins.
Instead of hitting the golf links, the men decided to reflect upon what is truly important to them.
It was the first time the Edmonton CWL council presented such a forum for their husbands and by all reports, it was well received.
"I think the event was a very positive one," said Ken Solomon.
"We might think things are important but time is the most important thing to have. We may run out of money but we can live with that. We can always make more. But when we run out of time, that's it," Solomon said.
"The archbishop said it is very important to realize how we spend our time and what we spend it on. He spoke to us to discern what was important to us as a father and a husband. What is it we want to do? He suggested we look at the big picture and the details will fall into place."
"It's important to focus on where you are at the moment and not on the past or the future," Solomon said.
Collins asked the men to reflect upon where they are, where they have been and where they might want to go.
George Lucas, husband of diocesan president Fran Lucas, said "I don't know if the people in the archdiocese really know how valuable the CWL is. The women do a ton of work in the community and the rewards are great. The women are so devoted to their cause."
