Catholic Conference affirms faith
By WCR Staff Edmonton
Close to 1,500 Catholics, including 960 youth, from across Alberta renewed and affirmed their faith at the 2004 Catholic Conference at Shaw Conference Centre March 26-28.
The Alberta bishops and the Alberta Catholic Trustees' Association put the conference together.
Speakers addressed issues such as the Eucharist, stress, Catholic education and missionary work. The conference also offered an array of workshops on topics such as human reproduction, parenting, the spirituality of marriage and politics.
Catherine Mills, from High River, said Auxiliary Bishop Richard Grecco's presentation gave her a lot to think about regarding the partnership between school, parish and home.
Red Deer trustee Lloyd Baumgarten, chair of the organizing committee, called the event a success.
He said its purpose is to help people build up their faith and that's what happened. "The quality of the speakers was such that it's highly possible they picked up something that will really change their lives and change the way they look at their faith."
The next conference will be held in 2006 in Calgary.
