Last Updated: Friday - 09/24/2010Week of January 19, 2004WCR subscription, advertising rates to increase
Individual paid subscriptions to the Western Catholic Reporter will increase from $25 to $30 a year effective April 1. U.S. and foreign subscribers will pay $75 a year, up from the current $50 annual subscription rate.
The WCR subscription rates last increased in July 1995. Since then, mailing costs have increased more than 41 per cent and printing costs have gone up more than 38 per cent. Mailing costs to points outside Canada do not benefit from a subsidy from Heritage Canada. The increase will not affect most readers of the WCR who receive the paper under the Edmonton Archdiocese's parish assessment. As well, rates for advertising in the WCR will increase 10 per cent effective April 1. WCR ad rates last went up in August 2001. Even with the latest increase, the paper's ad rates remain significantly lower on a per reader basis than those for other Canadian Catholic newspapers. |
