Oiler's visit crowns school's effort for Holy Childhood
By WCR Staff Edmonton
Georges Laraque visited St. Mark Junior High School and played floor hockey with students and teachers, May 30. Before the game some students had lunch with the Edmonton Oilers' forward.
During Lent, students bought raffle tickets to raise money for the Holy Childhood Association to help ill and impoverished children in war-torn and Third World countries.
One student from each class was drawn to determine who would have lunch with Laraque.
Students of the class who raised the most money had the chance to play floor hockey.
The school raised $715 and Laraque donated another $300 making the total donation $1,015, which was handed to Spiritan Father Michael Troy, spiritual director of Holy Childhood.
