Christmas Eve collection raises $33,000

The No Room In the Inn program, which raises money for homeless people through an offering on Christmas Eve in Edmonton and area churches, has reached $33,110.
The money has been donated to WINGS of Providence, which is building a residence for 20 women and their families who are victims of family violence.
Members of 43 churches of seven denominations in the city and as far away as Vermilion shared in the project this Christmas. WINGS of Providence is raising $4.75 million to build the new residence and operational funds for the future.
The annual appeal to churches to support housing for homeless people has been held for four years, reminding Church members on Christmas Eve that housing was a problem for the holy family 2,000 years ago and remains a problem for hundreds of families today.
Partners in conducting the appeal are the Edmonton and District Council of Churches, the archdiocesan Social Justice Commission and the Quality of Life Commission.
