City sister nominated to Holy See commission
Special to the WCR Rome
Sister Lucy Thorson, a sister of Notre Dame de Sion, was nominated for a five-year term to the Holy See's Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews by Pope John Paul on Jan. 16.
The council is linked to the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
Sister Lucy was previously on the teaching staff of Austin O'Brien High School in Edmonton.
In announcing Sister Lucy's appointment, Cardinal Walter Kasper, president of the Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, said that among the projects the commission hopes to undertake in 2003 is a meeting of consultors to cast an overall glance at the development of Jewish-Christian relations and the prospects leading to theological dialogue.
