Cloning opposition dropping
Canadian Catholic News Ottawa
A new poll by Leger Marketing shows an overwhelming majority of Canadians still oppose the cloning of humans, but the number is dropping.
Eighty-four per cent of those surveyed said they are against cloning humans while five per cent approve. The remainder did not have an opinion.
However, a similar poll in 2001, indicated 89 per cent were against cloning human beings and eight per cent were for it.
Conducted for The Canadian Press and released Jan. 20, the survey was taken on the heels of media reports of the alleged births of two cloned babies by a U.S. company linked to the Quebec-based Raelian sect.
