Extra prayers are sometimes added to the rosary

The bulk of the rosary consists of prayers well known to Catholics: the Apostles' Creed, the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory to the Father.

But in many places, other prayers, less well-known, are added. Here are some of them.

Fatima prayer:

This prayer is said at the end of each decade of the rosary following the Glory to the Father. During her apparitions at Fatima in 1917, Mary is said to have requested people to say this prayer for the conversion of sinners.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins and save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy.

Two prayers are often said at the conclusion of the rosary - the Hail Holy Queen and the rosary prayer.

Hail Holy Queen

Hail holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To you, do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us, and after this exile show us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us O holy Mother of God: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Rosary Prayer:

O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant we beseech you that, meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.
