By WCR Staff
Edmonton

St. Joseph Seminary currently has 41 seminarians preparing to serve the Church in Western Canada, Northern Canada and Newfoundland.

Out of the 41 seminarians, 27 are originally from Canada. The others come from the Philippines, Nigeria, India, Laos, Vietnam, the Ivory Coast, Estonia, Burundi and the United States.

Eight of the total are preparing for the Edmonton Archdiocese, including Ikenna Ejinaka, who is doing his pastoral internship, and Darryl Way and Daniel Gurnick, two new seminarians currently completing studies in philosophy.

The rest of the seminarians come from dioceses across Alberta and Western Canada, including two from St. Paul, two from Calgary, four from Regina, three from Saskatoon, three from Prince Albert, three from Prince George, one from Victoria, two from Nelson, one from St. Boniface and three from Winnipeg.

There are also three seminarians studying for the Diocese of St. George's in Newfoundland and one seminarian from Laos, an Asian country bordering Vietnam.
