Students care for school in Haiti
Special to the WCR Edmonton
When the students and staff of Ecole St. Stanislaus Elementary School decided to lend their support to a school in Haiti, they wanted to make their fundraising experience into an event that they all could enjoy.
In their second annual Toonie Talent Show, students danced, sang, acted and even somersaulted before an enthusiastic audience.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and this year at least 25 per cent of our students performed in the show.
The talent show and sale of a treat bag were the two main fund raising events in this Lenten/Social Justice Project.
Besides raising $852.36 for books and school supplies for Notre Dame school in the small Haitian community of Baudin, this project provided our school community with an opportunity to increase our awareness of the living and learning conditions in underdeveloped countries.
