Canadians urged to speak out
Canadian Catholic News
The Canadian bishops' social affairs commission is calling on Canadians to add their voices to the debate over health care in the next several months.
The call to participate in the health care debate is "an echo of Jesus' call to his followers to bring abundant life to our neighbours and communities," the commission said in an open letter.
It added that reflecting on the type of health care system that Canadians want "not only calls upon us to respond to our deepest values, but also challenges us to reconnect with our most cherished aspirations for building communities where people care for each other by sharing."
Canadians want to see "real solutions" to the challenges facing the health system, said the social affairs commission. It also encouraged all social and community organizations and Christians to make their views known to the Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada.
"In spite of the need for careful study, this is a matter that is far too important to be left only to 'experts,'" it said.
