Ward 3 — North-East EdmontonJim Shinkaruk
I am placing my name for re-election as a Catholic school trustee in Ward 3. I have a record of having served as an experienced and effective trustee. As a former educator, I can closely relate to the needs of educating over 32,000 district students. My business and budgeting experience gives me insight into understanding allocations of our district's $211 million operating budget. In addition our sizable capital budget requires additional attention. Our large staff is yet another consideration. Strong staff relations must be maintained. I certainly was instrumental in having an elementary school approved this year in Ward 3 by Alberta Learning/Infrastructure together with a new elementary school to be built as a replacement for an aging school in the inner city. Besides having a total of five schools being built in the next two years, our district has embarked on numerous new program initiatives. I would like to have the opportunity to serve during the next three years when our district's many capital and program initiatives will be realized and implemented. Recently, achievement and diploma test results were released by Alberta Learning. Our students excelled provincially in most of the subjects. Our staff must be complimented on their fine work. Our Edmonton district moves with pride into the 21st century. |
