Ward 4 — Central Edmonton

I would like the opportunity to serve the Catholic community as school board trustee in Ward 4.

I have two children in Catholic schools (Grades 9 and 5). As an active member of their school communities, I appreciate the role that each member of the school community plays in the education and development of a child.

I believe I have a well-rounded experience and would bring a fresh perspective to the board. I have been active at school councils for the last nine years. I am an active member of the parish community, as a children's liturgy leader, a member of the youth ministry council, a hospitality minister (together with my family), and a member of the CWL.

In 1996 I was appointed by the minister of education to be the public member of the Council on Alberta Teaching Standards, and am serving the last year of my appointment.

I am employed as a litigation paralegal, and have more than 25 years of legal experience.

These experiences have taught me to gather information, examine detail, and seek information from both sides of an issue.

My employer has generously granted me a leave of absence for the campaign, and I have advised the firm that if I am elected, I will not return to work. I believe that I would be more effective if I make a full-time commitment to the board.

I have a passionate commitment to Catholic education. It is a right that we must not take for granted, and we must work together to make it the best it can be.
