Vocations fund reaches objective

SPECIAL TO THE WCR

EDMONTON — In the mid-1980s and early 1990s, the name Emil Motoska was synonymous in this archdiocese with vocation promotion.

After Emil's death, to keep his memory alive and to continue to promote vocations, the Emil Motoska Vocation Fund was begun.

For many years caring individuals, religious institutes, the Knights of Columbus state board and councils, parishes and Catholic Women's League councils have quietly contributed money for the Emil Motoska Vocation Fund.

The goal of the fund was to raise $25,000 so that the interest from this fund would be used to help finance vocation activities.

This goal has recently been met and we on the Alberta Vocation Directors' Executive along with Archbishop Thomas Collins are pleased to inform and thank all who have graciously contributed to this fund.

In order to continue our work of promoting vocations, we need the support of many people. Your continued commitment of prayer for vocations is our foundation.

If you would also like to help financially, we encourage you to continue to support the Emil Motoska Vocation Fund c/o of The Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton, 8421-101 Ave. Edmonton, T6A 0L1.

To continue the Alberta Vocation Directors Executive mission of fostering vocations, we have invited Father Patrick O'Dea of Toronto, who has worked with vocations for many years to be the facilitator for the one-day workshop. All who are interested in vocations are invited and encouraged to attend.

This Friday workshop will be followed by a time of reflection for adults to help them understand, explore and discern God's call for them. Camp Oselia on Wabamun Lake will be the setting for this 2001 vocation event to be held Sept. 21-22. The weekend will focus on the theme of commitment.
