Redemptorists reach out through young adult mission
By JODY SLIGER Special to the WCR Edmonton
Thirteen young adults under the guidance of Redemptorist Father Remi Hebert led a coffee-house style mission for young adults Nov. 17-19 at St. Anthony Parish.
The young adults shared their faith with other young adults through testimonies, dramatizations and music.
The themes for the three evenings were God's voice within, God's voice in our midst and God's voice everywhere.
The third evening included a short pilgrimage onto trendy Whyte Avenue where St. Anthony's is located.
The pilgrimage attracted attention from passersby, some inquiring into what was going on - an unanticipated evangelization result of the mission.
The event concluded with a celebration of the Eucharist with 40 young people participating.
The mission drew positive comments from participants.
"I thought the mission related well to young adults," said Teresa Campbell. "All the skits I could relate with. I think we need more things like this."
"The mission was very good, very refreshing," said Len Hansen. "It was nice to meet other people of the same faith. It was true fellowship. The testimonies were powerful."
"It is always helpful for me when I am around other young people trying to live their faith more. It was nice the mission was put on by young people," said Gerry Engen.
