Millwoods school travels to Mass
Special to the WCR
Students, teachers and parents of Holy Family School in Millwoods travelled by bus to St. Theresa's church Sept. 29 for a special Mass.
The Mass was a celebration of the new school year and an early celebration of Thanksgiving.
The older students in the 580-student elementary-junior high school are paired as buddies with younger students.
For the Mass, the buddies travelled together on the bus and the older students helped the younger ones follow the sequence of the Mass.
The students listened attentively as the pastor, Spiritan Father Bob Colburn, described the vestments which the priest wears during Mass.
In his homily, Colburn spoke of the charity of the Good Samaritan and how all of us can try to become more giving of ourselves.
At least one student from each of the 23 classrooms in the school played a role in one of the liturgical ministries.
