Special to the WCR Calgary
Sister Mary Catherine Nicol, a Sister of Charity of St. Louis, celebrated 70 years of religious life May 28 at St. John's Convent here.
Born near Maple Creek, Sask., and educated by the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis in Medicine Hat, Nicol professed her vows in 1929.
For more than 40 years, she served in the field of education in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
After her retirement, Nicol cared for her ailing mother who died at the age of 104.
Now 94, Nicol retains her keen interest in music, art, drama, literature, history and crafts. Her sense of humour and deep spirituality are a source of inspiration for all.
