Collins linked to vocation directors

Bishop Thomas Collins is the Alberta bishops' liaison with the Alberta Vocation Directors Executive, a group charged with promoting religious vocations in the province.

The Vocation Directors Executive is a coordinating team among dioceses and religious orders, said Collins. It organizes several events a year, especially an annual event at Camp Oselia, west of Edmonton.

The event includes a Friday meeting of vocations directors and a weekend workshop for people considering religious vocations.

The executive also is establishing the Emil Motoska Memorial Fund which is trying to raise $25,000 to fund vocations initiatives in Alberta.

And it also hopes to develop a binder of materials on vocations opportunities which would be available in schools and universities across the province.

The 1999 Camp Oselia event will be held Sept 17-19 with Father Jean Papen as the main speaker. Information about the event is available from Sophie Motoska at 487-2757 or Father Don Bodnar at 473-5022.
