Gun abuse only part of Littleton tragedy

Re: Senior high shootings in Littleton, Colo.

Canada cries at this painful catastrophe. How do we begin to make schools a safety zone today?

Gun abuse is not the only excuse for this great tragedy at the senior high school in Littleton, Colo.

These students have deep-seated problems of hate coupled with negative attitudes. Rejected by others, there is a longing for acceptance and belonging for them.

Are we aware that there are three types of students - the fits, the misfits and the counterfeits?

The fits are students who reflect balance by showing respect for others, responsibility and healthy relationships while reaching their goals and developing their giftedness.

The misfits need some guidance in human relationships.

The counterfeits are eccentric and need psychiatric healing to operate normally.

Also, subliminal seduction through violent movies, harsh music and other eccentric activities contaminate the minds to react in a ruthless rebellious manner; for garbage in thrusts garbage out.

Are we trying to turn this evil around in today's society so that students will make respectful and responsible choices?

Do we see students in solidarity with Satan's values of gross destruction and death; rather than in solidarity with Christian values of safety and success?

Abolish all weapons in schools immediately.

Time to kill NATO

Hank Zyp doesn't pussyfoot around when it comes to calling NATO a spade. I might add to his analysis that NATO was formed to kill Russians and are now doing that to the same people. Let's kill NATO and get the UN back on the job.

Families must promote vocations

Why no vocations? In a nutshell, we need to do more than pray for vocations or run advertising campaigns. Vocations must be promoted in the family.

The bishop cannot accomplish this but parents can; then pray. Does it make sense to pray for a good harvest if we haven't planted our seeds?
