Book Cover - Hunting for God, Fishing for the Lord

In Alaska's Yukon Delta, 220 km from any hint of civilization, Father Joe Classen and a friend worked for "hours and hours and hours" in September 2009 lugging meat from a moose he shot out of a swamp and into a holding place.

They had skinned the prize, weighing between 270 and 450 kg, quartered it and butchered it.

After the bush pilot returned them to the launching point, Classen, a Missouri pastor, donated hundreds of pounds of meat to the locals.

The remaining 115 kg was shipped back to Missouri for a special dinner with all proceeds going to a pro-life centre.

An elk he bagged with a bow and arrow in northern Idaho in 2007 ended up as the focal point for an elk burger dinner also helping a pro-life centre.

The animals "help us sustain life, and the funds we raise support the lives of those unborn and their mothers," he said.

Classen has published three books including Hunting for God, Fishing for the Lord, he hosts Faith Adventures on the Covenant Radio network and his website is www.huntingforgod.com.
