A Bosnian Church leader is concerned that peace could again be at risk in the war-torn Balkan country because of failure by the international community to ensure "justice and human rights for all."
Said Msgr. Ivo Tomasevic, secretary-general of the Sarajevo-based Catholic bishops' conference: "The peace agreement and constitution which ended the war here were designed not by the people and parliament of Bosnia-Herzegovina, but in the United States.
For politicians everywhere, what's most important is power," he said.
In an interview, Tomasevic said the 1995 peace accord had ended the country's bloody three-year conflict but failed to bring a "stable and lasting peace."
He said conditions had since worsened for the country's depleted Catholic minority.
