SPECIAL TO THE WCR

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE – The Young Families Ministry, Ladies Prayer Group raised nearly $8,500 at a Nov. 18 benefit dinner at St. Matthew's Parish hall to feed hungry children in India.

The group served East Indian food to more than 300 people to raise funds for the Jeevan-Daan Care Centre run by the Sisters of the Holy Spirit in the Diocese of Pune, India.

Those who attended the event were delighted by the India décor and India market in which they were able to purchase beautiful handmade authentic India items for a nominal fee to donate to the cause.

The care centre ministers to children its workers find in nearby slums, abandoned, lying on the streets and railway platforms without proper care. At present they have 262 registered families from 12 slums within a 20 km radius of the care centre.

If anyone would like to submit a donation to support the children in India please contact Valerie Schulte 403-845-7283.
