Pope Benedict presents a pallium to Archbishop Christian Lepine of Montreal during a Mass in St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican June 29.
The woolen pallium is a sign of an archbishop's communion with the pope and his pastoral responsibility as shepherd.
Other Canadians receiving their pallium this year were Archishops Paul-Andre Durocher of Gatineau, Quebec, Luc Cyr of Sherbrooke, Quebec, and Valéry Vienneau of Moncton, N.B.
