Anne Marie Babich thinks that applause is inappropriate at Mass (WCR Letters, May 21). Most of us prefer silence during religious services.

I enjoyed reading the article on Blessed Pope John XXIII and his secretary Archbishop Loris Capovilla (WCR May 28).

Andrew Tarnowski ("Magazine ratings undercut CCODP," WCR letters, May 21) makes a strong case for the care of money and uses the evaluations of a magazine that favours those who hold the pursuit of money in high esteem.

I think the real news story about President Obama supporting gay marriage is that even Obama had reservations about this for so long.

Sisters in the U.S. are enduring a difficult and shameful cross. The Vatican Congregation for Doctrine of Faith has ordered the Leadership Conference of Women Religious to reform its statutes and programs to adhere more closely to the discipline of the Church.

I would like to thank St. Michael-Resurrection Parish for the effort and risk they took in bringing to us in Edmonton a world class speaker of the calibre of Dr. Richard Gaillardetz.

I was surprised by a statement in the WCR that "There has been some ecumenical activities in the area and in Edmonton, but in terms of a structure like this, apparently this is the first" ("Christian unity is a mandate from Christ," WCR, April 2).

I regret very much that Glen Argan chose to write the editorial, "Scrutiny of U.S. Nuns opens door to future renewal" (WCR, May 7).

I noticed that your latest edition of the WCR does not have a space allocation nor an access address for Letters to the Editor, as every decent publication should.

There has been a constant barrage of editorials, columns and letters in this paper on the "unconscionable" funding cuts CCODP has suffered at the hands of heartless CIDA.
