Non-practising Catholics need a newspaper

With the call for us to be focused on the new evangelization, doesn't it seem counter-productive to cancel the only Catholic communication available, via the Western Catholic Reporter, that actually gets to the homes and into the hands of practising and non-practising Catholics?

Sunday Mass changes unpleasant, negative

Our well-attended 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass at St. Joseph's Basilica has undergone some drastic, and less than positive, changes. We are no longer able to sing our "Blessing of the Lord" to the children as they leave the sanctuary for their lesson, a ritual which I always felt was delightful and enriching.

Pope Pius could have made a difference

In his letter to the WCR (Nov. 11), Peter Hala submitted that Susan Zucotti’s “one-sided criticism” of Pope Pius (WCR, Oct. 14) does little to “help in interfaith dialogue.” With respect, Hala’s letter itself presents a one-sided perspective.

Hitler built upon Bismarck’s anti-Catholicism

While good arguments have already been submitted by way of letters to the editor rebutting the criticisms made by Susan Zuccotti (WCR, Oct. 14) that Catholics, specifically Pope Pius XII, did not do enough to speak out against Nazi persecution of Jews, I would like to add a couple of points.
