Mariette Huot brings a touch of royalty to high tea with the Holy Trinity CWL.
STONY PLAIN — Holy Trinity Catholic Women's League in Stony Plain/Spruce Grove/Parkland County highlighted their year before the summer break with high tea and a very special visit from the" queen," Mariette Huot.
Madeline Twerdochlib and her daughter Karen decorated with an elegant royal setting. Tea and dainties were served and all ladies present for the occasion wore fancy dresses and hats.
The new archdiocesan president Gladys Brown also had the privilege of visiting with the queen.
Mariette regaled the ladies with her acquired "British" accent about all the latest unedited stories about life around the palace.
Her paparazzi had done their homework through emails, blogs, Facebook and tweets with Madeline Twerdochlib the main organizer of the event.
The queen then presented our council with three awards starting with the Walter Krewski Provincial Award for the largest increase in membership, the largest percentage of increase in membership and the most new members in 2010.
Evelyn Hayes won the prize for the most appropriate royal high tea attire. Her amazing dress belonged to her grandmother.
The CWL is now in the final planning stage for our next major event the 10th anniversary celebration on Oct. 15, which promises to be just as much fun.
